When I got to work just before 6 a.m. I noticed a woman sleeping on a bench on the side of the road! I was worried about her! I would have pulled over and asked if she was alright but she was on a busy corner and it would have impeded traffic. I got to work and told Big Jim. He says, "Yeah, she was there before 5 p.m." Then Andrew gets in at 8:15 and says she was still there!

What if she was dead? What if she was sick? How many people saw her there and drove past without doing anything?

We don't know her story. We can't assume she's transient. Even if she were, are we really that apathetic?

So I got back in my car to drive over and see if she was alright. She was.

Our instinct should be to say, "Hey, there's a woman sleeping on the side of the road, she must need help!"

What would you do if you suddenly found yourself without a roof over your head and no one to call? I'd be scared of going to a shelter. I would hope people would be concerned about me!
