The WSU main campus in Pullman, WA will be having a few less after-party messes to clean up the rest of this semester. Due to a rise in drinking and drugs, accidents, injuries, and sexual assaults on campus the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council (which oversees several sororities) sent letters to students, staff, and some others banning all events as of 5 p.m. Monday.

This decision was motivated by the students, not professors or other staff members. The Greek system at WSU has had several incidents involving drugs an alcohol such as students falling from windows, sexual assault, rape and other issues. The Greek student leaders decided to ban all on-campus events until the end of the semester.

At the start of the new semester, the fraternities and sororities will be subjected to a comprehensive checklist, that will go over the action plan set in the time away from events. The faculty and students hope that this will raise awareness of the issues and help reduce the amount of incidents at Greek functions. What do you think: will this help or is it not enough?
