You Could Soon ‘Eat’ Your Way Through Northeast Oregon
Umatilla County (Hermiston, Pendleton, Umatilla, and Milton-Freewater) and Morrow County (Boardman, Irrigon, and Heppner) are FAMOUS for their agricultural products. Some locals are thinking, why do we need to take our stuff to farmers markets when our farm, orchard, ranch or dairy is BEAUTIFUL! Won’t they enjoy coming here?
Local tourism officials are working to create a recommended route through beautiful northeast Oregon to visit self-pick farms, road-side stands, wineries, cheese-tasting rooms and on-site stores. The initiative would guarantee all these locations would be open the same days and times so tourists know they could go for a scenic drive and be able to shop these businesses.
Fascinating idea. I’ve always wanted to visit Heppner, maybe now I’ll have a reason!
