It's one of the kings of pizza.

The legend.

The icon.

Pizza Hut.

Pizza Hut? Of all places?

Well, there's more to the story.

These locations that recently closed were all in the Midwest.

According to New York Post, the group that operates 142 Pizza Hut locations across the Midwest including restaurants in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Georgia, and South Carolina, were "accused of defaulting on millions do dollars" that was meant for Pizza Hut.

Pizza Hut is also aware of people wondering if stores are closing down. Especially if their store is slated to close.

They put a generic statement on their website.

We’ve made the difficult decision, together with certain franchisees, to close a limited number of locations in the U.S.

The good news is that more than 6,700 Pizza Hut locations are open nationwide and serving you the delicious Pizza Hut pizza you know and love!

Pizza Hut goes on to say that you can use the restaurant locator to find the closest one to you.

These are only for these Midwest Pizza Hut locations. No word on the Pizza Hut locations in the Pacific Northwest as of this time.
