A French energy company called Neoen is reviewing land near Richland that it might use to build the largest industrial solar project in Washington State. The company is inspecting the 100 acres of unused land on the Hanford site for a new 20 megawatt solar project that would make Tri-Cities the hub for Washington's power needs. Energy Northwest has a 38.7 Kilowatt solar project around the same area however the new project would be much larger.

If the company finds the right place to build, the project is expected to be completed by 2019 according to news reports.
