It's time for spring cleaning. I'm not really interested in the "elbow-grease" kind of house work. I want tips and tricks! Here are my 10 favorite:

  • 1

    Crusty Microwave?

Covered the splattered areas with a wet paper towel, nuke it for a minute or two, allow to cool enough to touch, wipe out the microwave!

  • 2

    Dusty silk flowers?

Put artificial flowers in a paper bag with a cup of salt and shake. The salt knocks all the dust and cobwebs off!

  • 3

    Sponge getting gross?

Put the wet, smelly sponge in the microwave. Nuke it for a minute or two and allow to cool. The heat kills the germs and extends the life!

  • 4

    Grill looking gross?

Cut a large onion on half, stab with a bident (two-pronged fork), and rub your grill with the onion. It cleans it, greases it, and seasons it!

  • 5

Pesky gunk on stickless pots and pans?

Use an old credit card or gift card to scrape and scrub. It won't scratch the teflon and gets in the corners better than a spatula!

  • 6

    Grimey tablecloth?

Add black pepper during the wash cycle!

  • 7

    Red wine spilled on carpet?

Dilute with white wine, then sprinkle with table salt and vacuum up.

  • 8

    Kids dripping frozen treats everywhere?

Slice a hole in the bottom of a muffin paper. Slide it up the popsicle stick above the hand and catch drips!

  • 9

    Stubborn stains in toilet?

Drop Alka Seltzer tablets in the bowl before scrubbing.

  • 10

    Need to dry wet shoes?

Tie a string around the dryer door and tuck the wet shoes into the string so they don't flop around inside the dryer.
