Andrew Kirk has been a journalist for nine years. Although originally from the Tri-Cities, he has lived in Utah for the past 17 years and is a graduate of the University of Utah. He is married with children and currently lives in Richland. He is an amateur historian and used to teach Mandarin Chinese to middle school students in Park City, Utah. For fun he watches movies, visits parks with his kids and occasionally rides a bicycle.

Easy Way to Earn a Little Money – All You Need Is a Smartphone

This weekend is the Giant Book Sale at the Union branch of the Mid-Columbia Library at 1620 S. Union, Kennewick. Books for 25 cents to a dollar are available Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. Library book sales are a great way to teach kids about entrepreneurship.

Where Are the Best Places to Shoot Guns in the Mid-Columbia?

Who else remembers going to the shooting range with their dad at eleven years old? I do. We would head down to Hole in the Wall and he would show me how to use his Glock -- or sometimes we would head out to Badger Canyon and up into the hills to find a nice spot to unleash the double barrel on an old broke-down computer monitor we didn't need anymore. Needless to say they were good times and great bonding moments with my father. Now I'd like to take my kids out to a good range and show them how to shoot too, but the times have changed. Where are the best places to go shooting and take your family?
