‘Moana’ Review: A Less-Than-Fantastic Voyage From Disney
Like many of the shorts that play before Disney and Pixar’s latest animated films, the one attached to Moana — Inner Workings — shares some similarities with the feature it precedes. Both are stories that explore the familiar conflict between head and heart; between pursuing one’s passions and begrudgingly submitting to practicality. Oh, and they both feature the ocean. Moana also shares a few similarities with other Disney films (like Finding Dory, it also has a hilariously stupid bird), but it could benefit from having a little more in common with Frozen.
‘Wonder Woman’ Trailer: Diana Fights the War to End All Wars
As promised yesterday, a new Wonder Woman trailer has arrived and it is PACKED with new footage — from Diana’s home world of Themyscira (aka Paradise Island, which sounds like Jimmy Buffet’s jam) to the deadly realm of man (aka Earth), there’s a whole lot to unpack in the latest sneak peek at Gal Gadot’s first solo movie. And since it doesn’t arrive until next summer, we have plenty of time to take it all in.
‘Amanda Knox’ Trailers Show Both Sides of Netflix’s New Documentary
Believe her or suspect her? Those are the questions posited by not one, but two new trailers for Netflix’s new original documentary Amanda Knox. The acclaimed doc centers on the eponymous subject, who was tried, along with her boyfriend, for the murder of her roommate while studying abroad. In what became known as the biggest trial of the decade in Italy, Knox’s case captivated people all over the world, but questions of her guilt — and innocence — still remain.
‘Ghostbusters’ Blu-ray Features Extended Cut and Tons of Deleted and Alternate Scenes
With Paul Feig at the helm and a quartet of hilarious women who are great at improvising, it’s not surprising that the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of the Ghostbusters reboot is packed with additional scenes, outtakes, deleted scenes, gag reels and — as many fans hoped — an extended cut of the film. We won’t have a chance to see any of these bonus materials until October, but it should be interesting for those who felt as though Feig’s theatrical version may have been a little too safe.
‘Justice League’ Star Henry Cavill Teases Black Superman Costume in New Photo
Look, in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a Goodyear tire! No, it’s the new Superman costume from Justice League. Seemingly confirming rumors that the Man of Steel will be wearing a black suit in Zack Snyder’s next superhero epic, Henry Cavill shared a new close-up shot of the Superman costume from the set of the upcoming film — and although you can’t see the entire thing, it is most certainly black.
‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ Sets a 2018 Release Date
Just in case you didn’t learn enough about the secret life of pets this summer, you’ll get a second chance in 2018. Illumination and Universal Pictures are officially developing a sequel to The Secret Life of Pets, the cute animated film that gave animals the Toy Story treatment — and gave you something enjoyable to watch during this lackluster movie season.
New ‘Storks’ Trailer Proves Baby Delivery Is For the Birds
Not even sorry about that headline, guys. In more amusing news, here’s the latest trailer for Storks, a new animated adventure from Warner Bros. starring Andy Samberg(’s voice) as a stork who teams up with a human to deliver a bundle of joy to a hopeful family. Sounds pretty cute, but in a year filled with animated movies about talking animals, Storks is gonna need to give us a little something extra.
Jimmy Fallon to Host the 2017 Golden Globes
Following in the footsteps of his former SNL pals Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon will host the 2017 Golden Globes — which should also provide a respite from the antics of Ricky Gervais, for those of you who were growing a little weary of his schtick. The big question now is whether or not Fallon can make it through the awards ceremony without laughing.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Reveals Yondu’s New Look
Those who attended Marvel’s panel at Comic-Con last month were treated to the first footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which featured some exciting reveals — including a little bit of an upgrade for Michael Rooker’s Yondu. Marvel isn’t releasing any of that footage anytime soon, so if you weren’t at Comic-Con, then you might be interested in this new image of everyone’s favorite Ravager.

There’s a lot of great new stuff coming to Netflix Instant next month, but just as we prepare to load up our queues with the latest additions, so must we prepare to say goodbye to a handful of expiring titles. Read on for our complete guide to everything that’s expiring from Netflix Instant in August.
2016 Emmy Award Nominees: The Biggest Surprises and Worst Disappointments
Boy, that was quick. 2016 Emmy nominees were announced this morning, and special presenters Lauren Graham and (a very excitable) Anthony Anderson wasted no time in revealing this year’s crop of nominees. While there was rightfully plenty of love to go around for dramas like The People v. O.J. Simpson and Mr. Robot, and comedy faves Veep and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, there were a few disappointments — namely, where the hell is UnREAL?! Or The Leftovers? Come on, Emmys.
