Belize Resort Fire Puts Some Tri-Citians Out on the Street

A group of Tri-Citians visiting the Belizean island Ambergris Caye woke up Wednesday morning to the scare of their lives. A small beach front resort called Exotic Caye caught fire reportedly in the laundry facility and quickly spread to guest rooms. My good friend and former co worker Eric Van Winkle was awakened by hotel security at 2:50 AM and told to flee. He posted these photo's on his Facebook page and reported everyone made it out safely.

According to a local newspaper the San Pedro Sun there was an estimated $600,000 in damages to the resort. Luckily all the guests were relocated to a nearby sister resort.
