The Fred Meyer store at 2811 W. and 10th Avenue in Kennewick is building 8 charging stations for Tesla electric cars. Now with one in Pendleton (at Wildhorse), Ritzville, Ellensburg and The Dalles, traveling with electric cars is becoming realistic.

From what I understand, you can drive at freeway speeds for 2.5-3 hours in a newer Tesla. So if they're spread out, and you plan your trip well, you can drive from Boise (or Denver) to Portland or Seattle no problem.

The cars are expensive, but many in Tri-Cities could afford them. But would YOU?

What would it take for you to buy an electric car?
