Facebook is launching an app for kids 13 and under. It's the new Messenger Kids app and it's for kids 6 to 12.

The app allows parents to approve who their children are chatting with on Facebook Messenger and the app is an extension of the parent's account.

We know kids lie about their ages and are on Facebook but is having Facebook actively allowing young kids on the app a bad idea?

Several watchdog kids advocate groups are up in arms while several other groups support the new app.
