NBC “Fashion Star” Barbara Bates

Big Jim & Stacy Lee talked with NBC's "Fashion Star" Barbara Bates about everything fashion, and what she does to help underprivileged young women.

Barbara Bates is a recent cancer survivor, and a Chicago native who has been working in the fashion industry for over 25 years and knows what it means to be a fighter. After struggling as a teen mom, bates began her fashion career while working as a secretary for the First National Bank of Chicago by selling her designs during lunch in the bathroom. Within a few years she had expanded her clientele and had her own showroom.
