'Orange Is the New Black' writer Lauren Morelli and her husband of two years, Steve Basilone, filed for divorce only months after she came out as gay.

TMZ claims they've obtained the divorce papers, noting that Morelli began writing for the hit Netflix show only five months after the couple got married.

Back in May, Morelli penned an essay for Identities.Mic, in which she described how writing about Piper Chapman's lesbian relationship on 'Orange Is the New Black' made her realize she's gay.

"I realized I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set," she wrote. "...  In Piper and Alex, I'd found a mouthpiece for my own desires and a glimmer of what my future could look like."

The future is rumored to include 'Orange Is the New Black' actress Samira Wiley. Us Weekly reports the two are dating, while the pair have been photographed holding hands recently.

In Lauren's piece for Identies.Mic, she continues to describe the transition in her life and how writing for the show changed her life forever.

"Now, when I am in the writers' room or on set, I no longer feel like I am stuck in the middle of two truths," Morelli said. "I belong because my own narrative fits in alongside the fictional stories that we are telling on the show: stories of people finding themselves, of difficult paths and of redemption."
