Seattle Thief Steals Sunglasses from Car, Misses Million Dollar Lottery Ticket!
They say crime makes you stupid...and perhaps, inattentive.
Seattle police report a couple who didn't realize they had a $1 million dollar Powerball winning ticket nearly lost it to a burglar.
The couple, according to the Seattle Times, purchased the ticket February 10th, the day before the drawing was made for $350 million dollars. They didn't check the ticket until May 14, and learned they won one of what are called "lower-tier" drawings, which paid a cool million bucks.
The couple did eventually cash in the ticket, but not before three weeks ago. According to police, a thief broke into their car, stole a pair of expensive sunglasses sitting in the open, but DIDN'T take the lottery ticket the glasses were sitting on! WOW!
The couple admit they should have been a LOT more careful, but now they plan to use the money for some travel to Paris, and fix up their home.
Somewhere in Seattle, there's a car thief reading this who is slapping his forehead, and uttering the Home Simpson "DOH!"
