Support Women Pilots Racing Across the West at the 37th Air Race Classic
The 37th Annual Air Race Classic (ARC) is an all-woman, cross-country air race from Pasco WA, to Fayetteville, Arkansas. That's nearly 2,500 miles these airplanes will fly in the course of 4 days. Pilots are competing for a share of the $15,000 purse.
The Tri-Cities Regional Airport in Pasco will be hosting the starting point of the race where the planes will begin to take off at 8:00 am on June 18th. Over 100 pilots and 50 airplanes will participate in the race. The last time the ARC race was held in the Tri-Cities was in 1984.
Pilots will begin to arrive at the airport on June 13th to begin preparing for the event. A couple of activities have been scheduled to allow the public meet and greet the pilots:
> On Saturday June 15, a barbeque will be held at the Chep Gauntt hangar, 3015 Rickenbacker at the Tri Cities Airport in Pasco at 6:00 PM.
> On Sunday June 16, a pre-race banquet will be held at the Red Lion Hotel in Kennewick at 6:00 PM.
Racers will depart the Tri-Cities Airport starting at 8:00 AM on Tuesday June 18. The public is invited to go and watch the planes take off.
Tickets must be purchased by June 12th.
The Air Race Classic is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to honoring the cross-country flying skills of the woman pilots. They promote women in aviation and aviation career opportunities for women.
