The Citizens Academy will give you a better understanding of police operations in our community. It allows police officers, as well as other members of the criminal justice system, an opportunity to hear your perception of how our department is serving your needs.

  • Criminal investigations
  • Criminal law
  • Defensive tactics
  • Department structure and ethics
  • Judicial / court system
  • Juvenile justice
  • Metro Drug Task Force
  • Patrol procedures
  • Support services division
  • SWAT team
  • Tour of communications center
  • Tour of jail
  • Traffic enforcement

The Academy will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Richland Police Station. The academy will consist of 12 sessions and one Saturday as a field day. There is no cost to attend.

Due to the sensitive nature of some of the material presented, persons wishing to attend will have to successfully pass a limited background check.
