Airborne radiation detected by sensors caused 350 employees to take cover at a Hanford facility trying to remove the "glove box". The alarms went off around 7 am this morning and workers were released just before 11 am according to news reports.

The work was at the Plutonium Finishing Plant that housed the glove box in a highly contaminated area called the Plutonium Reclamation Facility. When the airborne radiation was detected, crews helped contain the contamination with a fixative applied over the "glove box".

No injuries were reported. We will keep you updated on this local breaking story.

The take cover order will stay in affect until crews survey the area and apply more fixative(adhesive paint) to the area.
