Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Cause of Death Revealed
The official cause of Bobbi Kristina Brown's death has finally been revealed, nearly eight months after she passed away on July 26, 2015. Sadder still, the findings were released on what would have been her 23rd birthday (March 4).
According to a statement from the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office, Bobbi Kristina died from a combination of drowning-related complications and drug intoxication.
"The autopsy alone could not reveal the underlying cause of death because of the long interval between Ms. Brown being found unresponsive in the bathtub and her eventual death," the medical examiner's statement says. They explain that they based their assessment on medical records and toxicology tests, and the fact that the autopsy couldn't find another underlying cause for either Bobbi's death or her original non-responsiveness.
"The drugs involved included marijuana, alcohol (ethanol), benzoylecgonine (a cocaine-related substance), benzodiazepines (medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety), and morphine," the statement continues. "It could not be determined from toxicology tests whether the morphine resulted from heroin use."
The daughter of Whitney Houston and her ex-husband, singer Bobby Brown, was found face-down in her bathtub at her home in Roswell, GA. back in January 2015. Her aunt Cissy Houston revealed that Bobbi Kristina had suffered "irreversible brain damage" in April of the same year, and she passed away in July.
As for the matter of whether the death was "intentional" or "unintentional," they have classified the manner of death as undetermined.
Bobby Brown objected to the autopsy release in a statement obtained by E! News on Friday morning.
"First and foremost, 23 years ago today, Bobbi Kristina was born. Krissy will always live in my heart and soul. I love my baby girl," Brown said. "For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter's autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death is mind blowing to me. Please pray for my family."
Brown has been vocal about his questions regarding his daughter's death. Shortly after Bobbie Kristina was found unconscious in the tub, CNN reported that investigators were looking into whether her boyfriend Nick Gordon was the source of injuries that were reportedly found on her body. Authorities found no connection between Gordon and Bobbi Kristina's eventual death. As People reports, Brown's court-appointed conservator filed a wrongful death suit against Gordon last October, alleging "he injected her with a toxic mixture." Gordon's lawyers rejected the charges as "meritless and slanderous."
Bobbi’s death came three years after her mother, Whitney Houston, was found unresponsive in a bathtub. The coroner’s report concluded that Houston died due to “drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.”
