Britney Spears Reportedly Signs Deal for New Las Vegas Residency
Oops, she's doing it again — Britney Spears has reportedly signed a deal to kick off a brand new Las Vegas residency only days after her long-running Piece of Me show came to an end.
Spears, whose revue at Planet Hollywood ended on New Year's Eve after four years, will take her show series to Las Vegas’ Park Theater, according to Us Weekly — the very same space at which Lady Gaga will jump start her much anticipated residency in late 2018.
“They are really trying to compete with some of the more established venues in Las Vegas," a source told the site. “They made [Spears] an offer and she just couldn’t refuse. She loves Vegas...The schedule was perfect for her and her kids...so why not continue?”
The gig will reportedly begin in 2019.
And sticking around will very likely prove to be a smart choice — Britney is still very much the darling of Sin City. In November, she cleaned up at the Best of Las Vegas Awards, winning Best Resident Performer, Best Production Show, Best Bachelorette Party and Best Bachelor Party.
Spears' publicist Jeff Raymond told The Hollywood Reporter around the same time that the pop star was definitely still interested in performing in Las Vegas, even though Piece of Me was coming to an end.
"Anything is possible," he said. "We have made zero decisions. We expect a lot of interest from all parties. Britney basically sells out every show, and she loves Las Vegas, she loves performing in Vegas, and Vegas is a possibility going forward.”
