BTS’ ‘Love Yourself: Answer’ Hits No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart
BTS continues to achieve insurmountable feats.
The K-Pop group scored their second leader with Love Yourself: Answer reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Billboard confirmed the boy band's latest chart victory Sunday (September 2).
Per reports from Nielsen Music, the record earned 185,000 equivalent album units in its first week (August 30) — 141,000 of which were from traditional album sales. The September 8-dated chart where BTS' Answer appears at No. 1 publishes Wednesday (September 5).
Their sophomore compilation LP, Love Yourself: Tear, became the first K-Pop release ever to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in May.
We had our suspicions of BTS' imminent accomplishment as Hits Daily Double prophesied the South Korean superstars would, once again, dominate the U.S. charts less than a week of Answer's arrival.
BTS' third compilation album came via Big Hit Entertainment on August 24 and culminates their Love Yourself trilogy.
The band unveiled the visual for the record's lead single "Idol," which shattered more records for BTS as it exceeded 100 million views on YouTube in less than five days of its release. The group also surprised fans with an alternative version of the track featuring Queen rapper Nicki Minaj.
Aside from reveling in chart-topping triumphs, we're sure, BTS is embarking on their worldwide Love Yourself tour. Their next stop will be at Los Angeles' Staples Center on September 5.
