Camila Cabello Almost Recorded Ariana Grande’s ‘God Is a Woman’
It's hard to imagine anyone other than the "Thank You Next" singer singing the hit single off her 2018 album Sweetener, but it turns out Cabello recorded a demo before ultimately deciding it wasn’t a good fit.
The former Fifth Harmony singer ended up passing on the song and it landed in Grande's hands — and the rest is history. The track went on to become a wild success and was even nominated for a Grammy.
“I think they had a chorus for the song and then I wrote verses to it,” Cabello explained during an interview on his SiriusXM radio show, Radio Andy, last week. “It didn’t end up sounding right for me so then Ariana and everybody wrote to her version and it sounded amazing!"

The "Senorita" hitmaker praised Grande and expressed interest in collaborating with her friend one day.
"I would love that! I love her! She's my friend," Cabello said. "She's really sweet. We'll just kind of check on each other and be like, 'how are you doing?' Or she'll posting something about how she's doing great mentally and emotionally through Instagram and I'll be like, 'I'm so happy for you.'"
