If you decide to partake in a cannabis-infused yoga class, you’ll be rolling up more than your mat – pun intended - cannabis yoga is lighting up all over the country, and now, what appears to be only occasionally in Tri-Cities.

I’m sure there are more, but I was only able to locate one pot-infused yoga class that took place a few times last summer in Finley - Lifted CannaYoga.  The class starts with a joint which comes with your class purchase (you can bring your own weed if you want, must be 21). After indulging, participants engage in a slow-flow yoga class complete with music, fruit, and cookies.

Yoga is not only great for your physical body, but also for your mental health. Some believe adding marijuana to the practice can open minds and create more self-awareness and relaxation. Dude!

Some of the cannabis yoga business monikers that I was able to find around the country include Gaja Yoga, 420 Yoga, Lit Yoga, Marijuasana Yoga, Bend & Blaze Yoga, Gajasana Yoga, Secret Stash Yoga, and Twisted Sister Yoga.

As far as mixing pot and yoga goes, that’s not for me. I practice Bikram Yoga and I can attest to its benefits. I suffered from terrible lower back pain and muscles spasms for years. After a month of practicing Bikram’s 26 postures I began to experience life without back pain, and more than 10 years later, I’m still pain-free.  I don’t go as often as I did in the beginning, typically once a week now.  Beware, Bikram is hot yoga and you will sweat – a lot – so if you decide to go, bring a mat, a towel, and a change of clothes. If you decided to try a cannabis yoga class – have fun, man - it’s evidently helping many people.
