Coast Guard Goes Fishing for Meth Head in Columbia River
The Coast Guard assisted in the arrest of a man trying to avoid police by jumping in the river after causing a disturbance at Clover Island.
When Kennewick police arrived, they allegedly saw 33 year old Derick Young throw a bag of methamphetamine in a parked car and try to run away.
He jumped into the Columbia River and tried to swim away.
Police called for the help of US Coast Guard and the Franklin County Boat Patrol who arrested Young and brought him to shore.
He was booked on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing a Public Servant.
