The Dayton Washington school district is arming and training their teachers with baseball bats to help keep their school safer.

The teachers actually practiced swinging and hitting with the bats last week as part of the new program.

They also learned preparedness training like how to block entries and where to hide in an emergency.

The program was put on by the security company Force Dynamics. They say that "almost everyone can swing a stick" under stress.", according to news reports.

The Washington Education Association teacher's union is against forcing teachers to use any type of weapon on the job, including bats.
