What began as a trespassing complaint Wednesday evening resulted in Benton County Sheriff Deputies talking a man out of attempting suicide.

Around 5:30pm Deputies responded to the Red Mountain radio tower area for a report of a man in a vehicle trespassing. When they arrived, the man (whose name was not released) was suicidal and refusing to obey commands.

Deputies called in trained Crisis Negotiator Sgt. Schwarder and after about 2 hours was able to convince the man to exit his vehicle without incident. He was transported to the hospital to meet with crisis counselors.
