Farewell, Beck Warm & Kyle Olson – Americans Make Big Trades
Two fan-favorites from the last half-decade of Tri-City Americans hockey played their last game as Americans. It was a fitting end to their respective Tri-City careers as they sent Spokane home unhappy on New Years' Eve.
Beck Warm was the first to go. After 4,033 saves, Warm will be joining the Edmonton Oil Kings. But, Warm had a big price-tag. The Oil Kings will get the All-Star goalie's services for the remainder of 2020 for a second-round pick in 2021, a 2022 fourth-round draft choice, forward Cade Littler, and goalie Carter Gylander. As sad as it is to see Beck go, Tri-City took advantage of his value in his final WHL season and are getting pieces to rebuild the team.
Just recently, the Americans also announced the departure of team captain Kyle Olson. Olson had 70 points last season but has been limited with injury this year. The Americans will get a nice return for Olson as well, getting two more WHL draft picks and 20 year-old forward James Malm from the Calgary Hitmen. Malm has over 200 WHL points in his career.
