#UPDATE 12:10 pm I-90 has opened back up, but expect slow traffic and delays.

A fire has made the Washington State Patrol close I-90 near Vantage because of the risk to commuters and infrastructure.

The fire has already burned over 1,000 acres, causing wind and dust to cover the roadway and guardrails have been catching fire, according to reports.

"Right now our primary concern is structure protection," Washington State Patrol Trooper Brian Moore said. "There is no estimated time of reopening I-90."

The eastbound interstate traffic is stopped east of Ellensburg, with westbound traffic stopped at the Vantage bridge.

Firefighter teams are on there way to fight the fire. "We have six strike teams in route", says Trooper Moore.
