First Meat Eating Hooved Animal Fossil Identified at John Day Fossil Beds
The fossil which was actually unearthed some 50+ years ago has just finally been identified by Oregon scientist.
Its scientific name is mesonychid which is a hooved (think horse or cow) but instead of being a herbivore it was a carnivore. Its really hard to imagine being hunted by a cow...just sayin... Anyway scientists from the pacific northwest say this is the first of this type of creature ever identified in the pacific northwest!
