Matt Shea is a Spokane Valley state representative and has been a lightning rod for supporters and detractors.

In Olympia, a state House of Representatives sanctioned investigation into Shea revealed in a 108-page report that Shea, "planned, engaged in and promoted a total of three armed conflicts of political violence against the United States Government as a leader of the Patriot Movement" and subsequently labeled him a "domestic terrorist".

The report concluded he was heavily involved providing information from federal agents to far right militias on multiple occasions. There are also accusations that he participated in some secret chat groups plotting to stalk or intimidate local Spokane politicians.

Shea has categorically dismissed the report on multiple grounds, which you can read about here.

Shea has also been linked to a group whose purpose is to train young Christian warriors for combat, plus those calling for a holy war against people who support abortion and other perceived ills of society and he was a leading cheerleader in dividing the state in half, calling for "Liberty", the 51st state in the Union.

He has openly rejected and refused to be silenced despite a growing concern among many about what to do next. He has been returned to Olympia by Spokane Valley voters six times.

The Washington Republican Party has suspended Shea from its caucus and stripped him of his committee assignments, but has shown little willingness to expel him entirely from Congress.

Enter Clint Didier.

Didier is not only a Franklin County Commissioner, but also the head of the Franklin County Republican Party.

Didier plans on bringing a motion to party leaders hopefully getting his colleagues to join him in backing Shea.

Didier and Shea go way back in their friendship, but it is puzzling how gauging the support of a controversial lawmaker in this neck of the woods pertains to solving the issues and being concerned about citizens in this neck of the woods.

What does the official endorsement of Matt Shea by the Franklin County GOP even mean?

In an interview with the Tri-City Herald, Didier said, “I think there is a groundswell of support, there is growing support for Matt Shea. I’m going to find out how big it is here.”
