If you saw a drone buzzing around Selph Landing Wednesday, it was the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

As part of their growing use of drones, the Sheriff's office releases information about their flights and the locations. It's an effort to maintain transparency about drone use by law enforcement.

Deputy Riddle recently obtained FAA clearance for a wide variety of drone flights and usage. Wednesday's flight was used to map and take photos of certain areas for training.

Unless an active criminal investigation is involved, Franklin County is going to release information about all such training flights in the future.

Drones have already been used to spot some marijuana growing operations, and to help locate a few criminal suspects in the last few months.
