Holiday Grinch Robber Nabbed After Wild Police Footrace
An officer ran down a theft suspect in Kennewick, after he tried to make off with hundreds of dollars worth of remote control toys Thursday evening.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Kyle Vahalteren, stole over $200 worth of remote control toys from the Sprint-Radio Shack store next to Gold's Gym by Clearwater and Ely. However, an officer just happened to be passing by on patrol, and gave chase.
After a multi-block pursuit on foot, the officer ran him down and he was arrested on theft charges. The days of the donut-eating out of shape officer are pretty much in the past, we've had several cases over the last year where officers ran down suspects on foot even after long pursuits.
No word as to the motive, but police say these type of thefts escalate during the holidays.
