An investigation has started after a 37 year old Richland man was found dead in his apartment nearly 6 years after surviving serious trauma from being slammed headfirst to the ground by a bouncer.

Ben F. Ensign was found Sunday dead in his apartment on Bellerive Drive according to the City Coroner. The autopsy is planned for Wednesday to find the cause of death and see if it is connected to his injuries from 2012.

That 4th of July, Ensign went to Jack Didley's, a now closed bar in Kennewick, and was kicked out for being drunk and disorderly. He tried to run back into the club and was picked up by two bouncers and eventually thrown to the ground on his head.

Ensign was left living with disabilities after sustaining a fractured skull, a subdural hematoma, and was on life support in a coma for a month.

The bouncer responsible was charged with third-degree assault and sentenced to 20 days in jail and a remaining 345 days on work release.

In 2015 Ensign posted a video saying he hoped he would get back into the car business.
