Alcohol Likely a Factor in Fatal Yakima County Crash, Passenger Ejection

The incident occurred July 2nd, but this week the Yakima County Sheriff's Office says alcohol was likely a factor.

   Female Passenger Ejected in Fatal Crash

Around  11:08 PM July 2nd, Yakima County Deputies, EMS and other Officers from surrounding communities responded to an i-Phone alert about a crash.  The YCSO didn't say how they were notified, but another caller confirmed the single-vehicle accident and said there were injuries.

The crash scene was in the 6200 block of Pumphouse Road, about 13 miles west and south of Toppenish.

    A Young Female Driver was Airlifted

The 31-year-old driver was treated at Astria Hospital in Toppenish, however a juvenile female passenger was ejected. She was airlifted to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, but pronounced deceased.

Crash investigators didn't say if anyone else was in the vehicle, but they believe intoxicants were a factor in the crash.
