Kennewick Father & Son Arrested…DUI, Felony Assault & More.
Snow, booze, and driving DON't mix. And, throw in a juvenile driver without a license. Say what? On Thursday night, Kennewick Police were called out to West 7th Place and Kennewick Avenue to a hit and run collision report.
When officers arrived, they saw a heavily damaged vehicle left in the roadway after colliding with two other vehicles.
A short time later, a juvenile called the police to report his father's vehicle had been stolen earlier. The description of the reported stolen vehicle matched the heavily damaged abandoned vehicle at the hit and run location. The juvenile reported that his father didn't speak English, so he would have to make the report.
Police encountered the boy as he was walking up to his home in the snow. The boy's father, Sesar Ochoa exited the residence speaking perfect English.
After investigation, the boy was detained and suspected to be under the influence. During the boy's arrest, Ochoa attempted to remove an item from his son's pocket, despite being told several times NOT to make contact. Ochoa denied orders and officers had to intervene. In the altercation, Ochoa struck an officer. He was arrested for Felony Assault of an officer.
The boy admitted he was driving and crashed the vehicle. The boy then attempted to flee in the vehicle and struck another car, disabling his vehicle. So, the juvenile abandoned the vehicle and made a false report to 911.
The juvenile was booked into juvenile detention for DUI, Hit and Run (x2), Filing a False Police Report, and Driving without a License. Ochoa was booked for Assault 3, Obstructing LE, and Resisting Arrest.
