Kennewick’s Canyon View Elementary Announces Next Principal
Canyon View Elementary School in Kennewick is welcoming its next Principal. She's Cathy Guajardo, who is currently an assistant principal at Chinook Middle School. Ms. Gujardo has been in her current role since 2016. Before this, Guajardo was a district instructional coach. She taught at Horse Heaven Hills Middle School and at Cascade Elementary before joining the Kennewick School District in 1997. So, she's not a stranger by any means to the area.
Ms. Guajardo earned her master's degree in professional development from Heritage University and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Eastern Washington University. She's a National Board Certified Teacher and has a principal certification from Heritage University.
Guajardo will be replacing Mark Stephens, who will retire at the end of the year.
According to a recent post on the Kennewick School District Facebook Page:
“We are excited to have Cathy Guajardo as the new principal at Canyon View Elementary,” said Rob Phillips, assistant superintendent of elementary education. “Her many years of successful experience as an elementary teacher, GLAD coach, and building administrator make her a perfect fit for our elementary team.”
And, from all the "Congratulations!" comments, it seems the district made the best choice. This is one scheduled task the district can count as accomplished.
