Kennewick Shoplifter Strips All The Way Down At Columbia Center Mall
According to local authorities, a 31-year-old mother stripped all the way down in the Columbia Center Mall JC Penney's store to prove her innocence after being accused of shoplifting Monday night.
According to sources the woman was asked to put her clothes back on, but she refused. It was then that the JC Penney employees stepped out of the room where she was being held to wait for police to arrive.
When police arrived, her 9-year-old daughter confessed to stealing and revealed a jewelry box hidden under her shirt.
Police spokesman Mike Blatman later told the Tri-City Herald that security footage showed the mother instructing her daughter to steal.
The woman was not arrested, but police forwarded a report to both Child Protective Services and the city attorney for review. Theft, shoplifting, and failure to supervise children are all possible charges that could be filed.
