According to various irrigation officials, Kennewick Irrigation District will soon (perhaps next week) be asking its customers to voluntarily cut back on watering.

It's believed the District will ask people to only water twice a week to help conserve. According to the latest projections from the Bureau of Reclamation (the government water folks) delivery this year will only be 67% of normal.

It's believed the District will ask customers to water twice a week, 2-3 days apart, and do it in the evening hours to minimize evaporation and waste. Conditions are not near what they were four years ago during the big drought, but if hot weather arrives and persists for several weeks and people don't cut back on watering, there could possibly be mandatory restrictions.

This practice is also expected with some other irrigation districts as well.
