A recently released level 3 sex offender is missing somewhere in Washington state and Police have initiated a statewide manhunt.

His name is Ronald Clayton, age 41, who was released from prison in Connell on Saturday, Oct. 5 after he was sentenced to 24 months for failure to register as a sex offender.

Pierce County Sheriff's Office Detective Ed Troyer says we have no idea where he is after he failed to check in to Tacoma Rescue Mission.

Clayton was originally convicted of rape, first degree, and assault, first degree when he was 16 for entering a woman's home while he was coming down from meth. When she answered the door, he pointed a .22 caliber handgun at her, forced her into the bedroom, and raped her. He was sentenced to 123 months in prison and released on Sept. 22, 2011.

Clayton is 6' tall and weighs 222 pounds.
