Milton-Freewater Getting New Winery With Awesome Name
Willamette Valley Vineyards makes award-winning wine in the Portland-Salem area. The company just bought 42 acres in the Walla Walla vintner area close to Milton-Freewater. The name is so cool.
The owner of Willamette Valley Vineyards is the fifth grandson (great, great, great, etc.) of Pierre Pambrun -- one of the chief traders at Fort Walla Walla when it was owned by the Hudson Bay Trading Company! So the 42-acre spread will be named Pambrun Vineyards!
The company is considered one of the best, if not the best, winemakers in Oregon, so having them join the Walla Walla growers is big news. It will be good for the economy, good for the area, and to have it celebrate deep, deep roots in the Northwest is super cool.
