‘MythBusters’ Episode Filmed in Boardman ‘Biggest Project Ever’

The "MythBusters" episode that aired Jan. 16 featured an AllTranstek taker car on tracks in Boardman, Oregon, just west of Umatilla. The show climaxes with the stunt team imploding the 30,000-gallon tanker.

In the teasers for the show the crew calls it their biggest endeavor ever in regards to cost, logistics and more. One can imagine purchasing a tank car to ruin is not cheap, and finding a stretch of railway to potentially blow it up isn't easy either. So glad the Mid Columbia could help!

The myth is that railroad employees washed a tanker with a hot steam spray, then sealed it. When the tanker cooled, the pressure differential made the car implode.
I'm just so excited little Boardman is now world famous!
