Okay wait a minute, you're telling me I can now skate on fake ice? No frozen water at all? That's what ice is you know, frozen water! How am I supposed to skate with no frozen water?

It turns out that these synthetic ice panels have been around for several years. It's a kind of polymer that is slick and smooth like ice but uses no water or electricity.

This new kind of skating is now open to the public in Umatilla. It's called The Eco Rink. Up to 50 skaters can enjoy the rink at once.

The rink will be open Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m., there will be maintenance performed every day from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. It is located on H Street, between City Hall and Village Square Park. For more on the story check out NBC right now and click HERE.
