Growing 10-Acre Fire Has Popular Road South of Kennewick CLOSED

A fire has Nine Mile Canyon Road closed South of Kennewick this afternoon.

Benton County Fire District #1 is on the scene with several other agencies battling the natural cover fire. So far, the fire has burned approximately 400 acres. The vegetation is dry and the fire is rapidly spreading. Infrastructure and crops are threatened.

UPDATE: 7/20/2023-5:50 pm - The fire is out.

According to a tweet from BCFD #1, the fire is out. Crews will remain at the scene for several hours mopping up. No structures were lost. BCFD #1 would like to thank the Kennewick Fire Department, BCFD2, West Valley, BCFD4 and the Richland Fire Department for assistance.
