NOAA Predicts: Drenching Rain for Washington This Fall
If you're anything like me, this time of year I feel mixed emotions. I'm excited for slightly cooler temperatures. I love Fall colors but, I will mourn the passing of Summer.
After Fall, comes Winter, and I'm just not a fan!
I love being outdoors, riding my horse, hiking, camping, and sitting on my back patio.
Cold wet weather is expected this year
I love being able to wear summer clothing and not need a sweatshirt. I love wearing shorts and summer dresses. I love to feel the warm sun on my skin and play in the water on a hot summer day.
Admittedly, this year the heat got to me a bit though. I found myself hoping for cooler temperatures more than a few times.
It's Time to pull out the Fall/Winter clothing
Temperatures may be close to the normal range for us.
NOAA Reports The seasonal outlooks show the footprint of La Niña's anticipated arrival this fall and winter, which is driving the forecast.
- There's a 66% chance for La Niña to develop this fall and a 74% chance it will develop through the winter.
Last year's El Niño brought above-average sea surface temperatures and, in addition to human-caused global warming, helped make 2023 the hottest year on record.
It may be a good time to unpack the rain parkas and warmer clothes and prepare for wet Fall conditions which could also carry over to a heavy winter of rain or snow.
Right now the thought of wearing jeans and boots again sounds okay to me. But, it doesn't take me long before I'll be whining about how cold and wet it is. So, this is not welcome news for me. Prepare to 'Bundle Up" Fall is just around the corner!
