One Woman Dead After a Single Vehicle Accident in Kennewick
One woman died in a single vehicle accident that is under investigation by the Kennewick Police Department.
The fatality occurred near the corner of S. Steptoe and 10th Avenue. The woman driving the car was speeding down 10th Ave. westbound before entering the roundabout too fast, somehow becoming airborne over a canal, rolling several times and crashing through two different backyards. No one in those homes was injured in the early Thursday morning mishap.
KPD indicated the vehicle was a Jeep and it flew about 100 feet before landing in a backyard on W. 9th Place. The victim, 29 year old Bricia Villasenor-Botello of Pasco, failed to negotiate the roundabout. Her vehicle left the roadway to the west of the roundabout, rolling several times while crashing through 2 backyard fences. Villasenor-Botello was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed excessive speed was a factor in this wreck. Villasenor-Botello was wearing her seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no indication at this time that alcohol or drugs were involved.
No other passengers were in the vehicle.
