Pasco Burglary Suspect Arrested After Attacking Homeowner
A Pasco resident is shaken but otherwise fine, after startling a burglar breaking into his house.
That burglar is currently in the Franklin County Jail charged with Robbery and Assault after he allegedly slashed the resident with a large knife.
According to the Pasco Police Department's Facebook page, the incident happened on Friday, April 2nd.
Pasco Police were called to the 600 block of South Beech Street on a report of an attempted home break-in. Upon arrival, the 56-year old resident flagged Officers down, reporting that he witnessed the suspect trying to break into his home. The man told Police the suspect slashed him with a hunting knife. The man's hands showed injuries consistent with his allegation.
Neighbors also witnessed the alleged attack on the homeowner and saw the suspect flee the location. The homeowner was fortunate his injuries weren't severe. It could have turned out very differently.
Police arrested 33-year old Edgar Ortiz Hernandez after leading officers on a foot chase in the neighborhood. Hernandez was seen allegedly ingesting drugs before he was taken into custody. Police recovered a large knife in a nearby yard consistent with the homeowner's description.
Hernandez was booked for Burglary First Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Theft 2nd Degree, and Robbery First Degree.
