The Pasco City Council has approved the use of red light cameras after a long study, but only for two different intersections.

The two intersections that were approved were on Road 68 and Burden Blvd and Court St. and 20th St.

Both intersection have had a bad history of accidents and they think the cameras will help. The City Council says putting an officer at those locations instead of a camera will increase the traffic problems, making the cameras the best option.

The city has a budget to pay for the new red light cameras and already know how they will be paid for.

One change the Pasco City Council will include on the contract is if the cameras do not help stop traffic violations, they can be removed and the contract voided, according to reports.
