Scott Baio Brings One Man Show To Coeur D'Alene

Actor Scott Baio’s one-man show “How Did I Get Here?” comes to the Coeur d’Alene Resort October 7th. Joining Baio as he shares 50 years of TV memories is his on-screen mom from three series, Ellen Travolta (yes, she's John's sister).

If you were alive in the 70s and 80s, or watch free streaming service Pluto now, those lyrics instantly recall characters like Ritchie, Potsie, Ralph Malph, Fonzie, and eventually Fonzie's cousin... Chachi.

Scott Baio portrayed Chachi Arcola for six seasons of Happy Days, getting up to 5,000 fan letters a week after his first appearance, so naturally ABC gave him a spinoff, Joanie Loves Chachi. It wasn't the hit they hoped it would be. I blame the lack of a catchy theme song.

Playing his mother Louisa on both shows was Ellen Travolta.

It was the beginning of an onscreen relationship that endured through a third sitcom, Charles in Charge.

Charles in Charge of our days, and our nights...

Another strong theme song (sung by current Eugene, OR resident Shandi Sinnamon). And another hit! Though it wasn't a success for CBS, who cancelled Charles in Charge after one season, Charles in Charge got a second chance in the new world of first-run scripted programs for syndication.

In a TV landscape littered with reruns of Bewitched, Gilligan's Island and, yes, Happy Days, Charles in Charge stood out with contemporary characters, situations, and fashions. It lasted for 5 seasons in all.
