Former Seahawk Arrested For Violating Protective Order

Former NFL safety Earl Thomas was arrested Friday for violating a court order.

The former Seahawks player was taken into custody on Friday for allegedly violating a court order and making threats against his estranged wife.

An arrest warrant for Thomas was signed on April 27th.

A customer at Spanky's Bar and Grill recognized Thomas and notified authorities that Thomas was in the establishment. Orange Police Department officers arrested Thomas at about 8:30 pm.

Thomas faces a felony of violating a protective order at least twice within 12 months.

The protective order was issued in May of 2021 and states that he could only communicate with Nina Thomas through a co-parenting phone app. Thomas reportedly refused to download the app.

Thomas is accused of contacting his wife, through text messaging.

Nina Thomas reported to Police that her estranged husband recently began texting threatening messages. One message allegedly had Thomas saying he would "kick [her] ass," and that he had obtained two handguns. In another, Thomas says he hopes they "drive off the road."

In 2020, Nina Thomas was arrested after pointing a handgun at Earl Thomas in an argument.

Nina Thomas filed for divorce in November 2020.

Earl Thomas hasn't played in the NFL since the 2019 season. He spent nine seasons with the Seahawks and then a year with the Baltimore Ravens. Last month Thomas told ESPN that he wants to resume his career in the NFL.
