Yesterday was the Summer Solstice, which means the longest day of the year. The sun rises early and sets late. If you travel to work early as I do. This is the time of year the sun is always in my eyes on the way in and I'm constantly flipping my sun visor up and down. On shorter days, it's headlights on and driving in total darkness before the sun even comes up.  Right now the sun rises just after 5:00 a.m. and sets just before 9:00 p.m. In Alaska, this is the time of the midnight sun. In Anchorage, for example, the sunsets at 11:46 p.m. That means it's still quite light well after midnight.

This nerve-wrackin' early morning sun managed to create one heck of an accident at 4th and Edison in Kennewick this morning. The driver said the sun was in his eyes and he went through a red light, crashing into another vehicle. As of this posting, the lights at that intersection are not working! Is Kennewick Police have posted stop signs in all directions for now.
Personal note: I just can't force myself to pay $200 for name-brand sunglasses. It seems like every time I do buy them, it's because I found a great discount on some cool ones on Amazon and the last two times I've purchased them, it happened to be on Amazon Prime Day, which is today and tomorrow.
