I can imagine the "Dragnet" theme playing right now.

Imagine the surprise of the Oregon State Patrol when they got a call concerning a body that was submerged about 45 feet below the water in Wallowa Lake.

Imagine discovering that all was not as it seemed when the officers arrived and recovered the body from the lake.

The call came from a fisherman who said they saw was seemed to be "skeletal" remains below the water in Wallowa Lake.

Oregon State Patrol coordinated with the Wallowa County Sheriff's Department on the body retrieval only to discover that things weren't as they seemed.

Imagine the surprise and relief of law enforcement when the "body" was discovered to be a fake skeleton and not the remains of a real person.

WHEW!

I guess it's almost time for Halloween and maybe that's how the skeleton ended up in the lake. It might've been tossed there as a prank but the OSP and Wallowa County Sheriff's aren't too worried about how the skeleton got into the lake.
